Fairness, Transparency, and Uniform Standards for Kansas Law Enforcement

In Kansas, there is no uniform process for how peace officers are added to or removed from a prosecutor’s “Brady-Giglio” list. Without clear statewide guidelines, an officer’s career can be permanently impacted before allegations are fully investigated and resolved.

The Kansas Brady-Giglio Project is working to ensure that every officer receives timely notice, an opportunity to respond, and a fair review — while protecting the integrity of our justice system.

Our approach is balanced: protecting officers’ due process rights while maintaining public confidence in law enforcement. By setting a consistent statewide standard, we can strengthen morale across agencies and improve trust between law enforcement, prosecutors, and the public.
